So, I'm back from a four-day trip to Chicago, where I taught hip-hop choreography to a high school dance team. It's been a while since I've danced like that, and I have to say, I'm needing more recoup time than I thought! Of course, I did have to spend the night in Chicago after my flight was delayed and cancelled, and after many many many hours in the airport, I'm finally home. So, that probably has something to do with the fatigue as well.
I digress. Anywho, now that I'm back home, I've had much catching up to do on the news. Amazing what you can miss in four days: A nation-wide ban on tomatoes, gas going up 25 cents, and massive floods in the Midwest. But here's one tidbit I wish I had never stumbled upon. Checking out one of Salon.com's many politic blogs, I found this gross sexist and racist blurb from Fox:
An alert reader wrote in just a little while ago to let us know about something he'd spotted on Fox News Wednesday afternoon. During a segment discussing conservative attacks against Michelle Obama, the wife of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, the network described the former as "Obama's baby mama."
I checked, and sure enough, as you can see below, our e-mailer was right. In fact, that description was displayed on-screen several times during the segment, which featured anchor Megyn Kelly and conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, an FNC contributor.
A clip of the segment in its entirety is below. You may notice that at one point, Malkin says, "By the way, it's not just Republicans who are criticizing some of her comments, but also statements have been made in the left-leaning blog Salon about her comments." I've searched the site, and I can't find anything like what Malkin is talking about. I've e-mailed Malkin asking for clarification -- if and when she responds, I'll update this post.
Update: Malkin responded to my e-mail; she says she misspoke and that she meant to refer to Slate, not Salon.

Back to Wendy: First of all, "baby mama" refers to a woman who bore an illegitimate child to a man. That's hardly what I would call the WIFE of the democratic nominee. It's insulting. It's racist (you'd never hear Fox or any other news station call John McCain's wife "baby mama," and it's downright crude. Fox News? You make me sick.
